Ashley MacIsaac to headline Grand Finale Ceilidh at Columbus Field

Adam Lomas, July 19th, 2008

Ashley MacIsaac ANTIGONISH, N.S. - World class Cape Breton fiddler Ashley MacIsaac will return to Ceilidh Corner at Columbus Field on Sunday night to close the 145th Antigonish Highland Games with a family Ceilidh.

MacIsaac will be accompanied by Maybelle Chisholm MacQueen, a long time friend who has played alongside Ashley for well over a decade. MacIsaac and MacQueen were the first live entertainment ever booked for the Antigonish Highland Games 'Beer Tent' festivities 15 years ago this weekend. The two also pleased a packed house at Pipers Pub Thursday night for a Ceilidh after the Highland Society's 'Whiskey Tasting Tour of Scotland.'

Earlier this month, MacIsaac posted on his blog at ashleymacisaac.net that he would be selling 50% of his entertainment royalties earned between now and his death on the online auction site eBay.com. A search of eBay this afternoon did not return the listing.

The Grand Finale Family Ceilidh at Ceilidh Corner runs from 4pm-8pm Sunday afternoon. Troy MacGillivray, Kimberly Fraser and David MacIsaac are also on the bill for the event. Admission is $5.
